The only good boss fight was Zilla because it works around the fast-paced nature of the gameplay. No new enemy, the interesting skills have been already unlocked in the first half, the set-pieces are generic, no new weapon, even humor, and writing become stilted. The first half was fine as it introduced game elements just at the right times (new enemies, new weapons, story bits, and new environments), but it seemed they ran out of ideas at the latter half. Even though the player has a diverse move set in Shadow Warrior, the levels are too small to take advantages for that or trap the player into the small area. There are other FPS where they throw bullet-sponge enemies at the player, but those games complement by making the level incredibly large (Serious Sam) or having the fully fleshed out roleplaying/loot progression system (Fallout, Borderlands), or the team-based tactical gameplay (Republic Commando). And this style of encounters plagues the game gets worse as the game progresses. While the levels are beautiful to look at, they were horribly designed (Fire whoever designed the Chapter 16) where they opted out the design philosophy of trapping the player in the small level and spawn more than ten bullet-sponge type enemies that would have been bosses in any other FPS. The first third of the game was great, but drops balls at the middle. It breaks my heart to say I really really did not enjoy their reboot attempt of Shadow Warrior. I watched Totalbiscuit's WTF video on this game, where he endlessly praised, and his tweet of "Shadow Warrior is probably better than Half-Life 3". I liked Flying Wildhog's debut, Hard Reset. I had massive anticipation for Shadow Warrior (2013). ![]()
